Inside the experience
A walk through the snow at the foot of the Wetterhorn, surrounded by the silence of the forest and the imposing view of the Eiger’s north face.
The excursion takes place on the outskirts of the Alpine village of Grindelwald, in a landscape of snowy fields, quiet trails and forests immersed in silence.
After a short transfer, you reach a secluded area outside the centre, chosen as the starting point for the walk.
The route begins along a wide trail with a gradual climb, ideal for getting used to the snowshoes and finding your own pace.
As you continue, the landscape opens onto vast expanses of snow and the peaks surrounding the Grindelwald valley.
The walk crosses snowy forests and passes near the Ischboden mountain hut, with the Wetterhorn and other Alpine peaks as a backdrop.
After approximately one hour, you reach a viewpoint overlooking the famous Eiger’s north face.
The return follows gently downhill trails towards the valley, crossing the snowy landscape again until you reach the arrival point.
How it works
The experience begins by meeting the guide in the centre of Grindelwald.
After the welcome, you will be given the snowshoes, poles and equipment provided for the excursion.
The guide explains how to adjust and use the snowshoes correctly, how to use the poles and how to move safely on the snow.
This is followed by a short transfer of approximately 10 minutes to the area where the route begins.
The snowshoe hike initially follows a wide, gently uphill trail, then crosses forests and snowy fields.
After approximately one hour, you reach a viewpoint overlooking the Eiger’s north face, where you can stop to admire the landscape.
The return route follows gently downhill trails and leads back towards the valley.
At the end, the equipment and materials used during the excursion are returned.
Ideal for
The experience is ideal for anyone wishing to discover Grindelwald’s winter landscape away from the ski slopes.
It is suitable for couples, families, groups of friends and anyone who wants to experience the snow through a slow-paced and immersive activity.
It is particularly suitable for those who do not ski but still want to explore the area during winter.
The climbs are gentle, but a level of fitness suitable for approximately two and a half hours of walking in the snow is required.
